The History of Cosmetic Surgery

Plastic surgery is an age-old practice that dates as far back as 2000 B.C. It began in India and Egypt with basic forms of the practice was done. In around 600 and 400 B.C, a physician named Sushruta documented how some of the procedures were done and some of the diagnoses that were made.

After the Egypt and India, Rome followed suit with more developments on plastic surgery in miami. With the passion the Romans had on the human body, they were drawn to alter how a person looked.  Roman physicians had the chance to exercise their skill by reconstructing gladiators who had severely injured on their bodies or faces. Another writer, Aulus Cornelius Celsus, documented these reconstructions. All the methods used in the procedures and how they were done were published in his book.

After a while, plastic surgery hit a dead-end street as a result of the fall of Rome. Some of the factors that also contributed to the stalling of plastic surgery were the kind of reception it was getting from Christians who were against the acts.

A new dawn came in 1500s, this time in Italy where a man called Gasparo Tagliacozzi started experimenting on skin grafts. Once more, the attempts of this practice were hindered by the Christian faith. At that moment, anesthesia was still at its early stages and for that reason; plastic surgery was a painful procedure.

These miami plastic surgeon has grown immensely since that time and with time came the privilege of being able to go through reconstructive surgery without major opposition. The 19th century saw the acceptance of plastic surgery as the procedures became much safer and easier.  During the World Wars plastic surgery, become even more popular as many soldiers had to undergo reconstructive surgery to ensure they got the treatment needed for severely damaged bodies.

After the war, the practice did not end. Western world countries adopted it at a far greater extent. The demand for the services grew, as many people wanted to correct what they felt were imperfections about their outer look.

New ways were adopted and far graver procedures were experimented on. This prompted the formation of medical boards that could ensure control of the procedures done. These organizations have set strict rules on any physician who wants to carry out plastic surgery on a patient. To hone your chances of receiving quality treatment, you need to get more information from the regulatory body in your area.
